Every year with Eid-al Fitr (the holiday that marks the end of the fasting month Ramadan), my mom and I bake various cookies. Today I would like to share this delicious and easy to make cookie recipe. We often call them zand koekjes in Dutch (sand cookies) because it’s a soft, crumble cookie! Let’s get straight into it:
Ingredients
- 1 bowl of sunflower oil (400cl)
- 350gr white caster sugar
- 1kg (wheat) flower
- 15gr baking powder (optional)
- 4 table spoons of grinded and roasted sesame seeds
- Almonds
(Other recipes will follow)
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 170 ° C
- Stir the oil with the sugar and sesame seeds
- Mix it with the flower
- Knead this mix for a few minutes until it looks like the dough in the picture
- Take an apricot amount of dough, start by rolling it into a ball and then form it into a pyramid shape (not too sharp: they should look like nipples lol)
- Lastly, top them with an almond
- Put the cookies in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes
