Good Ol’ Apple Pie

This traditional Dutch pie has become underrated, undeservingly. The rich combination of apple, cinnamon and nuts is brilliant. Enough said.

Preparation:

  • Preheat oven to 180 ° C
  • Dough goes without saying. Mix ingredients together and knead it well with your hands. Set the dough in plastic foil for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  • Peel apples, cut them into small pieces and put in a bowl. Mix apples with the cinnamon, sugar, lemon zest and the nuts of your liking. Additionally, add lemon juice and stir well (optional).
  • Use 2/3rds of the dough to fill up the spring tin. Put the apple mixture into the form. Finally, use 1/3rd for the diamond shapes as the topping of the pie. > Cut long streaks and place them criss-cross over the filling.
  • Finally, coat the pie with an egg mixture.
  • Bake for 1 hour until golden brown.
