The Berlin bubble | Vegan food guide

Berlin is a city best characterized by its open-minded vibe, dynamic culture and intriguing history. There is a lot to explore for anyone and everyone’s personal interests. The capital is also well-known for its sustainable spirit: that’s noticeable by the wide range of plant-based food options, which are often rule rather than exception. Although BB&B-blogger Anissa already published a Berlin blog on what to do in the city, this blog serves as a specific vegan food guide. I’ll present you some gems that are definitely worth a visit. Eat your green heart out!

The vibrant German capital is a true vegan food heaven. Vegan options seem available everywhere. I am a sweet tooth myself: sweet pastries are my weakness. During my short trip of four days, I discovered some cute cafes and cozy places. Most of them are in Friedrichshain: a chill and laidback neighbourhood where young and old blend in together.

Vegan goodness
The best thing about exploring a city bike, is that you see a lot: during a bike ride I spotted a cute café so I had to hop in. The friendly owner helped us make a choice, as we were overwhelmed by the amazing choices on menu. We ordered a fresh hummus bowl served with pita bread and a coconut yoghurt bowl with granola, maple syrup and fresh fruits: an excellent choice full of flavour. The hummus tasted the way you dream of how hummus should taste and that’s no coincidence: with their Middle Eastern background the owners know how to make it fingerlicking good. The interior is filled with charming vintage furniture in bright colours that make you wanna stay all day. With lots of (cooking) books around and delicious dishes to try, you could easily spend all day in this pretty café.

Delicious donuts

Fresh handmade donuts and specialty coffee is what Brammibal’s Donuts is all about. With two locations in town, this place is your go-to-place for some serious sweetness. Serving donuts with such flavor and texture, one would almost forget that everything is completely plant-based. We choose the raspberry pistachio and chocolate peanut fudge donut.

They should make ‘donut worry, be happy’ their slogan. Perhaps a bit cheesy, but I donut care 😉

Holy healthy
Natural, environmentally friendly and as diverse as its hometown Berlin: that’s how HOLY FLAT! promotes itself. The menu from the two-chain restaurant is shaped by European, Middle Eastern, Central & South American flavours: the place to be for real vegetarian and vegan food lovers. We got ourselves a tasty food bowl filled with fresh veggies. We sat outside while enjoying the tranquil atmosphere of the area.

Fast foodgasm
Everyone knows that döner kebab and Berlin are inextricably connected. Berlin, the party city it is, many people end their night out with fast food. If you’re up for a fantastic fast foodgasm, look no further. From currywurst to vish & chips and of course the famous vöner kebab: finally it’s possible to enjoy this delicious dish without compromising on taste. Vöner has your back! We couldn’t stop ourselves and went back a second time. The kitchen is open so as you wait, you see how your food is freshly prepared in front of you.

These are my must visits for some fabulous vegan food. Enjoy the Berlin bubble yourself and Guten Appetit!
